The votes are in full swing, and excitement is building as we edge closer to selecting the next Head Girl at Edgbaston High School. As the process unfolds, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible students who have stepped forward for this prestigious role.
On Thursday 13 March, each candidate took to the stage in assembly, sharing their vision for the role and what they hope to bring to the school community. Their speeches were filled with passion, ambition, and a clear dedication to making a positive impact. To offer a glimpse into their stance as Head Girl, each student shared a quote that resonated with them:
- Emily: "People who are truly strong lift others up. People who are truly powerful bring others together." – Michelle Obama
- Millie: "I never lose. I either win or learn." – Nelson Mandela
- Zahra: "We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back." – Malala Yousafzai
- Kate: "Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. And most importantly, be prepared." – Michelle Obama
- Yang: "Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge." – Simon Sinek
Putting yourself forward for Head Girl is no small feat. It requires confidence, leadership, and a genuine passion for the school community. Each candidate has demonstrated these qualities throughout the selection process, showing dedication and enthusiasm in their applications, speeches, and interviews.
Whilst not all will secure a place on the leadership team, every student who applied—whether shortlisted or not—deserves recognition for their ambition and commitment. Their willingness to take on new challenges and contribute to school life is something to be truly proud of.
We wish all the candidates the best of luck, and we look forward to sharing the final results in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
