Our week began with House Meetings and with Year 5 girls each giving a short speech to their Housemates to vote for them next year to gain the post as House Captain. The girls were very persuasive and the results will be announced at the end of Term.
Also on Monday we held our Celebration assembly. There were congratulations for all following their exemplary behaviour on school trips and at recent workshops. We presented the First Mathematics Challenge certificates to girls in Year 4 with 3 Bronze, 10 in silver, 4 Gold and then one Full Marks awarded to Uthara. There were Music awards too for Tara Joshi who passed her Piano Monsters Grade 5, for Zeenia Khan who was awarded a Piano Adventures Award and a Grade 1 ABRSM certificate for Kira Mehta on the piano.
We congratulated Amy B on her success in Judo having recently been selected to train as part of the England Squad in Italy. This was an experience Amy found a little daunting but also very exciting and exhausting. Another individual achievement which we celebrated was Ciara D who donated her hair to Little Princess Trust and also raised £1,182 for Trauma4Patients. Ciara also performed in a theatre workshop at the Town Hall in a production called Wandering the West End.
There were certificates for many members of swim squad who were given the challenge to improve on their distance challenge from earlier in the term. They totally surpassed our expectations. There were swimming medals for Sanaya and an award for Emily W who took part in her first open water Aquathlon.
On Tuesday we marked the contribution of Year 6 to the school as we welcomed their parents to a ceremony in the marquee. There was much to celebrate as we shared some very special memories. Then on Wednesday morning it was time for the Year 1 and 2 Choir to entertain us as they performed their Gingerbread songs seen earlier in the term at the Summer Concert.
We were able to enjoy a festival of sport on Thursday with 3 Sports competitions. We started with Westbourne, then Years 1 and 2 and then Years 3 – 6. The weather was perfect for the events and the House Cup will be awarded in the end of term assembly.
In addition to all of the special events there has been time for school work too and they have been busy in Year 3 creating posters to encourage us to save water and also writing their own multiplication and division problems for each other to solve. Year 1 have also had some practical lessons on telling the time.
Next week we have Changeover Day to look forward to, our annual picnic and then an early 12.00 finish on Wednesday as the well-deserved summer holidays begin.
