What a very busy week with very much to be proud of.

We began the week welcoming the parents of girls in Year 6 in to join us for assembly. This is the last class assembly in Prep for Year 6 and brought back lots of memories of past class assemblies for all.  The girls shared facts, mini dramas and songs about the World Wars and the Greeks, both of which they have been learning about in History. Everyone left having very much enjoyed the performance and having learnt new facts.

Tuesday brought another exciting assembly when we were joined by Dr Dias, one of our parents, who shared her experiences of being a critical care doctor working on the West Midlands Air Ambulance.  This gave us more details about the charity which we have chosen to support this term.

There were two workshops this week too.  One was for Year 6 as part of their enrichment programme. They welcomed Birmingham Museum staff in to teach them more about chasing and enamelling, two traditional techniques used in jewellery making.  The other workshop was a puppet making experience for Year 1 guided by Major Mustard.

Wednesday brought some exciting news as 8 of our girls took part in the UTalk Junior Language Challenge live final, a national competition.  The 8 girls competed against 22 other finalists from across the country and performed extremely well with 6 of them finishing in the top 10.  Congratulations to Bella for finishing first, Gurbani in second place, Haya in fourth place and Jessica in fifth.

We welcomed visitors to our Prep School in Action morning on Thursday who all enjoyed their tours of school and meeting our pupils.  This was ahead of our Summer Concert which featured all of our Music ensembles and a sols performance from Catie, our Prep Young Musician.

On Friday, in our Celebration Assembly, we congratulated all of the girls mentioned above for their successes and there were individual certificates too for Denver for achieving her Level 3 swimming award, and for Olivia and Liyana for their performances in Birmingham Gymnastics Aceademy Competition.  Olivia also received her Grade 1 ABRSM Music certificate.

We announced the results of the recent Times Table Rockstars Challenge which has been taking place in Year 2. In this round 2S was the winning class with congratulations to our top three challengers in each class: Tanisha, Reem, Aisha, Ranye, Bonnie and Maisie.

We have finished the week with a visit to Lower Smite Farm for Year 3 which we will report on next week.  Looking ahead, we wish our team of swimmers who are representing the Prep School in the finals of the English Schools Swimming Association Relays on Saturday the very best of luck.  We also wish parents a Happy Father’s Day on Sunday and hope that your daughters treat you to a relaxing day.
