Insights into Urban Regeneration
19 April 2024
Earlier this week, Year 12 and 13 Geography students were lucky enough to receive a visit from Waheed Nazir, former director of regeneration at Birmingham City Council.
He spoke to us about his involvement in the Big City Plan, a comprehensive regeneration plan focusing on the development of Birmingham City Centre. We learned about the different aspects of the plan and the development of areas such as New Street Station and Grand Central. This talk was particularly interesting because it enabled us to find out more about how our current topic of regeneration can be seen in our local area.
At the end of the talk, we took the opportunity to ask questions which furthered our knowledge on the topic and cemented our understanding regeneration concepts. We all thoroughly enjoyed the talk and found it incredibly useful in providing us with a further insight into regeneration; it even gave us inspiration on careers in regeneration and town planning.
We would like to thank Mr Nazir for coming into school to talk to us.
