Senior Musician of the Year
26 February 2016
Preliminary rounds for the Edgbaston High School Musician of the Year competition have been completed and 32 girls from the Senior School have been selected to present their entries in the final on Wednesday 2 March. Members of staff in the Music Department have listened to hundreds of pieces of music from many different styles and the level of musicianship demonstrated was exceptional in all areas.
We are delighted to Welcome Professor George Caird as adjudicator for the final. Professor Caird has been a committed teacher and educationalist throughout his career. He joined the Royal Academy of Music as Professor of Oboe in 1984, became Head of Woodwind in 1987 and Head of Orchestral Studies in 1989. In September 1993, George was appointed Principal of Birmingham Conservatoire at Birmingham City University - a post that he held until August 2010. In January 2011, George was appointed Artistic Director of the Rotterdam Classical Music Academy, Codarts in Rotterdam.
