Year 4 Hone Critical Thinking Skills

Preparatory

05 July 2024

This year, our ‘Thinking it Through' club has been very popular. Open to all pupils in Year 4, the lunchtime club offers a variety of activities that require students to think outside the box and approach problems from different angles. Whether it is a mind-bending puzzle, a strategic game, or a complex question, each challenge fosters critical thinking and logical reasoning skills.

One of the unique aspects of 'Thinking it Through' is the flexibility it offers. Pupils can choose to tackle the challenges independently, honing their individual problem-solving skills, or they can collaborate with their peers, learning the value of teamwork and diverse perspectives. This dual approach allows students to explore different methods of thinking and understand that there are multiple ways to arrive at a solution.

Taking risks and embracing new challenges are fundamental principles of 'Thinking it Through'. We encourage our pupils to step out of their comfort zones and try different strategies, understanding that the journey to finding a solution is just as important as the solution itself. This approach helps students develop resilience and a growth mindset, teaching them that failure is not a setback but a stepping stone to success.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and dedication our Year 4 pupils have shown in the club this year.
