A Beautifully Illustrated Carol Service Booklet

Congratulations to Asmitha R (Year 10) and Katerina T (Year 7), whose artwork was selected to illustrate this year’s carol service booklet. Asmitha created a detailed digital drawing of St. George’s Church using her iPad, while Katerina produced a festive ink pen drawing of a Christmas tree.
Katerina who aspires to one day seeing her designs displayed on a billboard in New York City, shared her creative process for this project. She started her piece with a geometric pencil sketch before refining the details with pen. She particularly enjoyed adding fine details to the tree and used a gold Posca pen to add sparkle to the baubles and tinsel. Working independently, she described the process as both fun and rewarding, even turning mistakes into part of the final design.
Asmitha began her element of the design by photographing St. George's Church and creating a digital drawing using the Sketchbook app on her iPad. Captivated by the church’s details but hindered by obstructing trees, she revisited and redrew from a better angle. Working independently, her design was finalised by Mr. James in Photoshop. She valued feedback on improving precision and learned the importance of starting early and taking time with details. While design is a relaxing hobby for her, she encourages others to get involved in similar projects for creative enjoyment and the pride of contributing to the school.
