A Landmark Week at the National Finals
21 March 2025
Last week was an extraordinary one for EHS Sport, with both U15 Netball team and the newly formed Squash team making waves at the national finals. Read on to relive the action and celebrate their remarkable performances.
Netball
The U15 Netball team made history by travelling to Loughborough University for the prestigious Sisters n Sport National Shield Finals. This milestone marked the furthest any EHS team has ever advanced in the competition, and the girls were determined to bring home the gold.
In the semi-final, they faced a formidable and physically demanding Harris Chafford Academy. But EHS rose to the challenge, dominating the game with an impressive 22-8 lead.
The grand final saw them up against the fast, well-coordinated South Hampstead High School. The match was a thrilling, back-and-forth contest, with both teams applying relentless pressure. Yet EHS found another level of performance, forcing turnovers and capitalising on every opportunity to secure a hard-fought 25-20 victory.
Co-captain Luccia B was named ‘Player of the Final,’ and the entire team was ecstatic to bring home the coveted trophy for the 2024/25 season.
Congratulations to the team: Luccia B, Isla B, Jemima H, Polly B, Olivia W, Anaiya P, Aniya S, Cora B.
Squash
The newly established EHS Squash team participated in the prestigious National Schools Finals, competing against some of the country's top teams, including Epsom College and Wycliffe College. The tournament featured a series of thrilling, closely contested matches, demonstrating outstanding athleticism and strategic decision-making from all players.
Team EHS concluded the competition in an impressive 8th place nationally, a remarkable accomplishment, particularly considering that two of our team members, competing as the 1st and 2nd seeds, were in Year 7, facing opponents from the Sixth Form.
Congratulations to the team: Zara H, Sriharshini G, Fernella R, Siona M and Adela S.
