A Stellar Set of GCSE Results

Senior School | Parents

23 August 2024

It was celebration time at Edgbaston High School on Thursday 22 August as our girls once again raised the bar with an incredible set of GCSE results.

The numbers speak for themselves with 50% of all entries awarded the top grades of 9 or 8 (equivalent to an A*), and a remarkable 72% of entries achieving a grade of 9, 8, or 7 (A*/A). Furthermore, 30% of students achieved ten or more grades at these top levels. This year’s results are the highest we've seen in several years and equate to a 10% increase in the top grades from 2023. What makes this achievement even more impressive is that the grading standards have returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Headmistress Clare Macro couldn’t be prouder of the girls’ achievements. She shared her delight, stating, “I am thrilled for our pupils; they have worked extremely hard and have maximized the support and guidance that is always on offer from our dedicated teaching staff. The girls have excelled academically while also giving their full commitment to a diverse range of co-curricular activities, whether that be music, sport, mentoring, Duke of Edinburgh, drama, or volunteering.”

Mrs. Macro continued, “It is an exciting time for the girls, and they should be extremely proud of everything they have accomplished. I look forward to the vast majority continuing into the Sixth Form, where I know they will continue to flourish and achieve their goals.”

We are filled with pride for our girls and gratitude for the dedicated staff who have supported them every step of the way. The journey has been challenging, but our girls have shown resilience, dedication, and a commitment to excellence that has truly paid off.

We are excited to see what the future holds for these exceptional young women as they move into the Sixth Form and beyond. They have already shown that they are more than capable of achieving their dreams, and we can't wait to see them continue to shine.

Congratulations to all our students, parents, and staff on this fantastic achievement. Here’s to celebrating this success and looking forward to many more!
