Welcome Back from Mrs Macro
Westbourne | Preparatory | Senior School | Sixth Form
06 September 2024
As ever, it was wonderful to welcome pupils back to school this week, and through a masterclass of planning and organisation, we were able to gather the school on the playground for the first whole school photograph in 5 years. To see the youngest in our community through to those who are reaching the end of their school journey was wonderful. We are not able to gather all in one place on many occasions, but when we do, it is a fantastic sight and feeling.
Over the summer, we congratulated our Year 13s and Year 11s on their respective results day. Over 40.3% of grades for Year 13 were the top grades A*/A and 70% grades A*/B. The collective results contain outstanding achievements by individual students with 20% of the cohort achieving all A*/A grades.
This year’s cohort are undoubtedly ready to take their place in the world, with an increasing number choosing to take the apprenticeship degree route securing courses with prestigious organisations and companies such as BBC, PWC, BDO and KPMG. In addition, 89% of students will be heading to their university of choice with destinations including LSE, Durham, UCL, Manchester, Birmingham and Exeter. We are delighted to be sending off prospective medics, lawyers, architects, physiotherapists, accountants and fashion designers. The range of destinations and degrees is as wonderfully unique and individual as the pupils who study at EHS.
At GCSE, the achievements were equally impressive; 50% of entries have been awarded 9 or 8 and 72% of entries have been awarded at 9, 8, 7. In addition, a third of students achieved 10 or more grades at 9, 8 and 7. Results are the highest for several years, with an increase of 10% in the top grades from 2023; this is particularly impressive as grading standards this year are back to pre-pandemic levels.
Along with the other members of staff that we said goodbye to at the end of the Summer Term, over the summer holidays we also said goodbye to Mrs Crawford, School Secretary, and Mr Man, Senior Science Technician, both of whom are leaving to explore new and exciting opportunities.
We welcome several new members of staff to our community:
