Battle of the Bands at the House Gala

Senior School | Sixth Form

10 January 2025

Houses are a key part of life at EHS and friendly competition between the houses is ongoing. However, when the Christmas House Gala comes around, this intensifies. Over the course of last term, the House Captains were tasked with arranging and choreographing their entire house into a 10-minute routine to perform on the last day of the Winter term. This has meant organising their best dancers, communicating between year groups, and running rehearsals during lunch and breaktimes.

By the last day of term, everything was ready, and the girls were all poised to wow the judging panel with their final performances. This year's theme was Girl Groups and Boy Bands, with each house being randomly assigned one band of each category and tasked with mixing the music as well as organising the performance.

The judges were blown away by the way that all the houses had brought themselves together and the standard of the show. In the end, St. Patrick's House secured second place for their classic 90s/00s influenced performance of Destiny's Child and Backstreet Boys, winning them 10 house points.  However, it was St Andrew’s House that stole the show, dazzling the judges with their routine to music from Little Mix and One Direction, and earning 20 house points.

A huge well done to all the House Officials for the massive amount of work that they put in over the term.

The points have been added to those the girls have been collecting throughout the term and the current totals are shown below.
