Braving the Elements

Sixth Form

12 July 2024

18 students embarked on their Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition to Snowdonia last Friday 5 July. The evening was spent acclimatising in a pizza restaurant, enjoying their last meal before the start of the four day adventure.

Unfortunately, the weather was so poor on Saturday that it prevented the attempt for the summit of Cadair Idris. The reserve routes were employed but this made for a very long and wet first day.

On Sunday afternoon the sun reached North Wales for the first time and with it, spirits lifted. It was great to see the teams supporting each other, helping the last team in to cook, and put up their tents together.

Monday was a gorgeous day with the teams all enjoying stunning weather and scenery in the heart of Snowdonia. And although the last day saw the return of seemingly endless rain it was great to see true EHS spirit prevail with the girls maintaining their positive and determined approach.

Well done to all those who completed this challenging weekend and thank you to Mrs Griffiths for organising the expedition.
