News from Head of Prep

Preparatory

29 November 2024

I am fortunate, in my position, to have the opportunity to experience every aspect of life within EHS Prep school on a daily basis, from our 2 year old girls learning their initial phonic sounds, to our Year Four pupils coding in the Computer suite, our Year Five and Six girls taking part in the Primary Mathematics challenge or my Deputy Head girl performing at a violin recital, in preparation for her Grade Eight violin examination. Every day is varied, but every day is filled with opportunity. But what is always clearly evident is that I am surrounded by girls who are eager to learn, eager to ask questions and to wonder why. They are not afraid to make mistakes, because they are supported by kind, nurturing, experienced members of staff who give them the confidence to take risks.

This week, staff were challenged to adapt their teaching and learning to take part in No Pens Day. Active learning was in evidence throughout the school, as was a blended learning approach to digital technology. It was a wonderful way to highlight the importance of pupil outcomes, which do not always have to be written words or mathematical symbols on a page.

What I really love about our school is the joy I see in every corner of the school. I see joy in friendships, I see joy in triumphs, I see joy in opportunities and I see joy in the girls’ faces as they come into school every day. These girls love learning and, so, will be well placed for future success.

Have a wonderful weekend.
