News From the Head of Prep
07 February 2025
My favourite part of my role as Head of EHS Prep School is visiting classrooms across the school. It fills me with immense pride to see inspirational teaching and learning taking place from the very youngest members of our community developing their speaking and listening skills to our Year Six pupils confidently engaging in healthy debates, problem-solving and collaborating.
EHS girls are curious. They are eager to learn and to make the most of every opportunity. This week, the Performing Arts have been at the forefront of the girls’ minds. Miss Robinson has been casting her magic on rehearsals for the Year Six production. The performances of ‘Olivia’ take place at the end of the Spring term and further details regarding this will follow nearer the time.
Every pupil from Year Three to Year Six has been involved in auditioning for the eagerly awaited Prep Musician of the Year competition. Mr Skilbeck and Mr Southall have the almost impossible task of selecting the finalists who will be invited to perform at 4.00pm on Wednesday 26 March 2025 in The Octagon. Parents of those girls who have been successful will receive further communication regarding this before the half term break.
I am so fortunate to have such a dedicated staff body. They demonstrate our EHS values on a daily basis, aspiring to create the best possible learning environment for our girls, aiming for excellence in their lessons, persevering when pupils find things challenging, showing creativity in their approach to their subjects, differentiating their lessons to ensure inclusivity, having the courage to step outside their comfort zones to trial new ways of teaching and learning and ensure they are forward thinking, consistently demonstrating aspirational ideas. But, above all else, they are aware of the incredible responsibility they have, to provide a safe and supportive environment to give our girls the confidence to achieve their potential.
We have achieved so much since the early days of September and, as we finally notice the signs of spring beginning to appear, I look forward to continuing to provide opportunities to ensure all of our girls thrive and blossom in preparation for future success.
Have a lovely weekend.
