News From the Head of Prep
14 February 2025
This week has been a wonderful opportunity for me to celebrate our inspirational Head of Science, Mrs Eveleigh. At EHS Prep we are in the unique position of offering Science lessons, taught by a Science specialist. We know that women and girls belong in science, because their inclusion fosters innovation...but not every Prep school has Science taught by a specialist, or indeed by a female specialist. This week, it was International Day of Women and Girls in Science, an important day because there still remains a great deal of inequality in the world of Science. At EHS Prep School, we nurture and support our girls to ensure they believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Mrs Eveleigh is a fantastic role model who inspires our girls in every single Science lesson. But we are also fortunate enough, to be able to provide role models for our Prep students, in the form of our Senior girls – many of whom are studying Science at A-level and hoping to continue their scientific path to University and beyond.
Our Prep girls are regularly inspired by our Senior girls. No more so than this week, when they were treated to a special ‘Horrible Histories’ adaptation of the musical, ‘Six’. Whoops of joy could be heard from pupils from Years Two – Year Six as they took their seats in the breathtaking Octagon, for a show which was of a quality that could have graced the West End Stage. The cast consisted of six of our Year Thirteen pupils, many of whom are studying sciences, and one of which has just received an offer to study at Cambridge University. Each of these girls was unique. Each of these girls was inspirational. Each of these girls represented the essence of a true EHS girl – one that is unique and well prepared for future success.
So, when parents ask me why I love EHS Prep School so much, my answer is this: it is because we provide a nurturing environment, to support, stretch and challenge our girls to achieve their academic potential, whilst ensuring they remain their own unique, wonderful selves. We promise to prepare our EHS girls for ‘future success’, because if you are a girl who wants to succeed in the modern world, you need not only top grades...you need that little bit extra...that uniqueness.
Wishing all of our EHS families a restful half term break.
