Outstanding Achievement in the Bebras Challenge

Preparatory

06 December 2024

This term, our Prep school reached an exciting milestone in the Bebras Challenge, a prestigious national competition designed to inspire computational thinking and problem-solving skills. We are thrilled to announce that a record 60 girls from Years Three to Six participated this year, demonstrating exceptional commitment and enthusiasm.

EHS has proudly participated in the Bebras Challenge every November since 2022. What began as a small test group of 18 enthusiastic Computing Club members has now grown into a whole-school success story. Remarkably, six of our Year 6 leavers now boast three Bebras Distinction certificates in their portfolios—a testament to the challenge’s growing popularity and impact on our students' skill development. Wow!

A special congratulations goes to Jessica, Ellise, and Emiley, who achieved the prestigious feat of full marks and were delighted to receive their Best in School Certificates. Equally impressive are the seven students who scored over 200 in the Junior Challenge category, earning Gold Certificates. This group includes Riyana, Josie, Kira, and Dimitra, who showcased outstanding problem-solving skills.

Our school’s average score of 177 is a source of pride, standing significantly higher than both the West Midlands average of 133 and the UK average of 125. This impressive result reflects the hard work and determination of our students and staff in embracing this challenge.

The dedication displayed by all participants has been inspiring. Many students went above and beyond, arriving early to school, giving up their playtimes, or staying late after the school day to complete the challenge. Their perseverance and commitment exemplify our school’s core values of resilience and excellence.

Congratulations to every participant on this remarkable achievement. You have not only made us proud but have also set an inspiring example for the entire school community. We eagerly anticipate continuing this success in the years to come!
