The Primary Mathematics Challenge

How many spots does a six-sided dice have?

Two rabbits are eating from a carrot which is 20cm long. One eats from one end at 2mm per second. The other eats from the other end at 3mm per second. How long is it before they finish the carrot?

Has this got you thinking?

Last week, Year 6 and some Year 5 students had the exciting opportunity to take part in the Primary Mathematics Challenge (PMC). This challenge, run by The Mathematical Association, is a fun and engaging competition for children aged 9 to 11 across the country.

The questions often require creativity, persistence, and sometimes the courage to try something new—qualities we encourage in all our pupils at EHS. We are proud of their ambition to achieve their best.

Pupils who score highly enough will be invited to take part in the Bonus Round in February, which is an exciting next step to look forward to.

A special mention goes to Hitha I, who not only scored highly but achieved the highest possible score. Well done, Hitha, and congratulations to all the pupils who took part!
