Young Musicians Shine at Teatime Concerts

Preparatory

22 November 2024

This term, Edgbaston High School has been alive with the sound of music as pupils from Years 3 to 6 performed in two remarkable Teatime Concerts. These events provided a wonderful opportunity for our young musicians to showcase their developing skills and passion for music.

First Teatime Concert: Years 5 and 6

On Thursday, 10 October, the Octagon was filled with an inspiring array of performances as the Year 5 and 6 girls took to the stage for the first Teatime Concert of the year. The evening featured a vibrant mix of pianists, singers, guitarists, violinists, and a drummer, each bringing their own unique flair to the concert.  The concert provided a relaxed and supportive setting, allowing the girls to gain confidence and share their musical journeys with an encouraging audience of parents, teachers, and peers.

Second Teatime Concert: Years 3 and 4

On Tuesday, 14 November, the spotlight shifted to the younger performers as the Year 3 and 4 girls presented their talents in the Prep Hall. This concert was particularly special as it featured the Guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument, performed for the very first time by one of our pupils. The delicate and melodic sounds of the Guzheng captivated the audience, adding a unique element to the event.

The evening also showcased a variety of solo performances on the piano, violin, cello, flute and voice. Each performance was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the young musicians, who charmed the audience with their poise and enthusiasm.

Both concerts highlighted the talent, dedication, and potential of our pupils. The Teatime Concerts not only provided an opportunity for the girls to share their progress but also nurtured their confidence in performing live.

We are immensely proud of all the performers and look forward to seeing their musical journeys continue to flourish throughout the year.

Congratulations to all involved for two wonderful evenings of music!
