Words Take Stage at Poetry Slam
06 December 2024
The annual Poetry Slam took place in the Drama Studio on Monday, featuring a number of talented girls who shared their self-penned poems. The performances covered a range of themes from love and loss to Christmas and pickles!
As the poet Robert Frost once said: “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words,” and that was certainly true of the Poetry Slam. This sentiment was beautifully reflected in every performance during the event.
The Year 13 EHS Poet Laureates, Laila and Inayah helped to organise the event. Laila shared, “It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of lots of people and read out your own writing.”
Inayah added, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to take part through reading out their poems or who came to support their friends.”
The poets included Hawwa, Mehar, Zoe, Sara, Scarlett, Grace, Aya, Siana, Sophia and Alex, from across various year groups. The Poetry Slam was a wonderful opportunity to see
the students’ creativity and for them to perform in such a supportive environment.
