Year 10 Inspired at GCSE Science Live!

On Monday 27 January, Year 10 students had the exciting opportunity to attend GCSE Science Live! at a packed Symphony Hall. Over the course of the day, the girls were treated to inspiring talks by scientists from many different backgrounds and given fascinating insights into their research. 

One of the highlights was a captivating talk by Dr Eleonora D'Elia, a materials scientist from Imperial College, who impressed the audience with a range of demonstrations showing how the appearance of objects changes due to different scientific effects. This included an eye-catching experiment that changed the colour of a butterfly's wings.

The girls also enjoyed Professor Robert Winston's entertaining talk about his field of study, human reproduction. This featured fascinating live videos of cells dividing and the process of fertilisation.

To top off the day, the audience were also addressed by a chief examiner who shared top tips for success in their science exams. 

GCSE Science Live! left the Year 10 students feeling inspired about the endless possibilities that science holds.
