A celebration of Chinese New Year
07 February 2020
This week, we celebrated the Chinese New Year in school with an assembly for Years 7 - 9 aimed at showing the girls the origins of Chinese New Year and giving everyone the opportunity to learn about many of the customs and traditions surrounding this important festival.
We were treated to a performance of a dragon dance by some of the girls in the Year 7 Mandarin beginners group. Branchett, Epper and Jiaying then told us about some of the customs such as traditional food eaten in China at this time of year and how people decorate their homes. This was followed by a quiz with prizes!
Thanks to the girls for their participation and to Annie Zhang for her support of the girls as they prepared their presentation.
We wish you 新年快乐 or Kung Hei Fat Choy!
