A Level Students See 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'
19 May 2023
Last week A level English Literature, Language and Drama students went to Manchester to see Tennessee Williams’ ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’. We started our trip at Starbucks in Grand Central and boarded the train to Manchester. We had time to explore sunny Manchester including Wagamama and the food market!
After a couple of hours of looking around the city, we headed to watch the much-anticipated play. Many of us were impressed by the Royal Exchange theatre and took lots of photos. This was an all-black production of ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ that had also been modernised in places. The A level Drama students were particularly impressed by the set that used a bed in the centre of the stage throughout. The English students got an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the work of Tennessee Williams although for some of us the highlight was the handsome leading man, who was shirtless for most of the play!
We would like to thank Mrs. Park for organising such a wonderful trip. It was a great opportunity for us to experience the arts and learn more about the work of one of America’s greatest playwrights.
