A taste of Gothic horror

Sixth Form

07 December 2018

On Friday 23 November, Mrs Park’s Year 13 English Literature students enjoyed watching four useful and thought-provoking lectures on Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’. These included many topics, mostly relating to the context in which this novel was written, providing information about the historical, personal, social and political influences on Shelley at the time.

Apart from the lectures, we also enjoyed our lunch break, visiting the recently opened German Christmas market, where we grabbed some much-needed brainfood to prepare us for the next lecture.

This experience will not only be useful for when we sit our Gothic literature exam in the summer, but the lectures also provided an insight into what the learning experience of a university student is like, as we prepare to head off to university next year. We would like to thank Mrs Park for giving up her time to take us on this trip.
