Announcing our new Head Girl

Senior School | Sixth Form

13 March 2020

Edgbaston High School is delighted to announce Naomi Okafor as Head Girl elect for the academic year 2020-21.

Now in Year 12, Naomi first joined the school as a Year 7 pupil. She is studying for A Levels in Art, English Literature, Music and Psychology, and is an active member of the school’s community. In her winning speech, Naomi emphasised the role of the student voice and as she looks forward to stepping into the role of Head Girl she hopes to amplify and harness the student voice for the benefit of all pupils in Senior School.

Annual selection of the new Head Girl is a highlight of the Senior School year. The rigorous election process begins with the submission of written applications, followed by interviews with key members of Senior School staff and the current Head Girl and Deputies. Shortlisted girls are then required to give a speech to the whole school and, finally, votes are given by pupils in Year 11 and the Sixth Form, and staff.

Please join us in offering Naomi our warmest congratulations on this achievement! The election of the Deputy Head Girls next week will complete our new student leadership team line up and we look forward to bringing you this announcement in a future edition of Friday Headlines.
