Autumn Term Excellence Book

Senior School | Sixth Form

We are constantly amazed by the high quality of work produced by pupils of all ages here at EHS. In recognition of that talent and hard work, each term teachers are asked to nominate outstanding or excellent work to the Excellence Book. This term, we have once again seen work of an extraordinarily high calibre produced by girls in every year and across a range of subjects. Congratulations to the following students in the Senior School and Sixth Form.

 

ART

Norehan Elkhazin (Year 9)

For beautiful and exquisite pencil drawings of a shell and an orange.  Just wonderful.

Jiaying Han (Year 12)

For fabulous paintings inspired by the artist Imogen Bone. Jiaying has kindly allowed one to adorn Mrs Macro’s office.

ART GRAPHICS

Isobel Hemming (Year 11)

For consistently high effort in Graphics. Isobel produced a fabulous digital portfolio page on Max Stizich.

Jessica Handley (Year 13)

For an excellent set of designs on the team of portrait, created in Adobe Illustrator. Jess produced a vibrant and energetic portrait.

ENGLISH

Angel Hiller (Year 11)

For making consistently impressive and insightful contributions to a one hour discussion on the poem ‘An Unknown Girl’ by Monica Alvi. Angel was also the first pupil to have an Excellence Book meeting with Mrs Macro and the Leadership Team.

Alexis Slyne (Year 7)

Writing a poem that not only impressed Mrs Macro but inspired the Leadership Team.

Keeranjit Kalirai (Year 11)

For an outstanding essay entitled Is ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’ a tragedy?  The essay is of A level standard and Keeranjit’s teacher is very keen for her to do English A level!

Olivia Parker (Year 9)

For work on the Lord of the Flies that showed perceptive and sophisticated understanding of the novel; worthy of GCSE level.

FOOD & NUTRITION

Alexis Slyne (Year 7)

For designing a healthy meal for a family and then cooking it for her family.  Pan-fried Salmon and Coucous.

HISTORY

Norehan Elkhazin and Lalitha Perumalla (Year 9)

For outstanding optional work in History.  They both researched topics extensively and wrote about them with thought and analysis.

MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

FRENCH

Abigail Tomlinson (Year 12)

For an excellent short essay on travelling to space and for being a fantastic positive force in the MFL Department.

Monica Liao and Adela Sabharwal (Year 9)

For excellent written French, knowledge of vocabulary and grammatical expressions.

     

 

 

SPANISH

Amrita Dhillon, Alyzah Hussain and Tiffany Latham (Year 8)

For excellent written work in Spanish, using lots of connectives and justifying their opinions.

Mona Abras, Alexia Byrne, Aisha Ghauri (Year 11)

For outstanding written work in Spanish.

Isabel Curry (Year 10)

For outstanding written work in Spanish.

Norehan Elkhazin, Sofia Iemelianova and Kate Stockton (Year 9)

For outstanding results in the Year 9 Spanish Interim Assessments.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Willow Bevan, Cleo Hayes, Tiffany Latham, Isla Batchelor (Year 8/7)

For competing in the 63rd Annual ESSA Championships.  They swam in the 4 x 50 freestyle and 4 x 50 medley. They did fantastically well to qualify (on the top 20 were invited) and did the school proud on the day.

SCIENCES

BIOLOGY

Polly Paton (Year 7)

For an outstanding Plant Cell model. Polly created a detailed Cell using foam and papier mâché

Sarah Gray (Year 7)

For an excellent Biological Cell with wonderful attention to detail and beautifully presented.

Alexis Slyne (Year 7)

For an excellent Cell Model made of felt and cake decoration sprinkles.

Coral Hemsoll (Year 7)

For an inventive Plant Cell model. One that could be commercially viable.

Aleyah Ahmed (Year 7)

For a well constructed Plant Cell model, beautifully labelled and imaginatively put together.

Tabitha Ahmed (Year 7)

For a fabulous Plant Cell model, with detailed labelling and description and intricate design.

Olivia Whittaker (Year 7)

For a wonderful Plant Cell model, making excellent use of a Pizza box. Also clear labelling and good facts.

Avani Seehra (Year 7)

For a fabulously creative and accurate model of a plant cell. Excellent use for a Covid lateral flow test box!

Harleena Grewal (Year 7)

For a brilliant model of a Bacterial Cell.  Harleena conveyed the intricacies of the Cell imaginatively and with accuracy.

OTHER

Rosanna Nabavi (Year 11)

For designing an outstanding front cover for the British Medical Journal Student Magazine.  She was asked to step in at the last minute and they loved her design.

Elisa Calibiro, Lily Clarke, Jessica Andre (Year 8)

For a fabulous video presentation on social media. They delved into a difficult topic about online bullying and explained the issue sensitively.

Gursharan Bhamra (Year 12)

For an excellent assembly on Diwali. Gursharan wrote and presented the assembly by herself and delivered it with grace and ease.

 

 

Alyzah Hussain (Year 7)

For entering a poetry competition of her own accord in order to push herself and come out of her comfort zone.  Her poem was selected for publication and Alyzah is justifiably proud of this.

Davina Jagpal (Year 11)

For her contribution to a debate on whether independent school should exist. Davina expressed the points in her persuasive way.

Alyzah Hussain (Year 7)

Study Skills – for creating a fabulous powerpoint on earthly phenomena as part of her Study Skills lesson.  She includes amazing images, just the right amount of information and delivered it in a confident and engaging manner.

Sabiha Sattar-Mohammed (Year 8)

For creating a social media post to highlight the dangers of the environment of using Palm Oil in so many products.

Amelia Groves, Anna Litchfield, Charlotte Miller and Abigail Tomlinson (Year 12)

For putting together and delivering an excellent assembly on COP26. Very thought provoking and engaging.

Tyra Jambwa (Year 10)

For gaining a Distinction in her Lamda exam (Grade 4). She was commended for being able to build a good rapport with the audience and communicating enjoyment.
