Back to school for parents
15 December 2017
The evenings of Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 December saw classes with a difference take place in the Prep Art Studio. The ‘pupils’ were groups of parents who were in school to learn how to make a Christmas wreath at an event organised by the EHS Parents Association.
Their ‘teacher’ for the evening was Liz Rumbold, TV producer of programmes such as Gardeners’ World, Chelsea Flower Show and Garden Rescue.
The atmosphere was very festive as parents concentrated on crafting their creations from natural materials whilst also enjoying the opportunity to socialise with fellow EHS parents.
The first step was to cover the metal base with moss to help keep the wreath moist during the festive period. The base was then covered with pieces of spruce and ivy using wire to secure the materials in place. Once everyone was happy with their base arrangement they were able to add embellishments such as dried orange slices, bundles of cinnamon sticks, ribbon or raffia.
As you can see from the photographs of the happy faces everyone clearly enjoyed the evenings and left with a wreath to be very proud of.
