Birthday Celebrations in the Music Department
29 January 2021
We thank everyone involved in contributing towards the Whole School Birthday Assembly. A full report will follow in next week’s Friday Headlines.
The School Birthday – Music in the Senior School
To celebrate the School’s Birthday, the Music School asked the girls in Senior School to produce a recording at home for the Birthday assembly. The song is based on ‘The Greatest’ by James Blunt and has been arranged and rewritten for EHS especially for the school’s celebrations. With Years 7 and 8 working on this project in their class music lessons and voluntary contributions from the other year groups there were over one hundred students who are singing on the final recording.
We would like to thank our ex-student Grace Farrell for recording the vocal guide track that we sent to students for this world exclusive performance. Grace now performs in London’s West End in shows including Les Misérables, returns to support students in our events including school productions and has even performed in our Lockdown Recital for the recent Old Girls Association online event.
We would like to thank all of the girls who took part in this recording. We would also like to thank the Chamber Choir who recorded the School Song remotely for this event too.
The School Birthday – Music in the Prep School
It has been an incredibly long time since we have been able to enjoy massed singing in our Prep School in person for assemblies and public events. However, for the School Birthday, the Music School asked girls in Years 1 to 6 to record ‘Happy Birthday’ at home as part of the school’s birthday celebrations. We would like to thank all of the girls who took part and all of the parents who helped with the hundreds of audio and video recordings we received.
