The Black Country Experience
01 April 2022
The sun was shining brightly as Year 5 headed off to the Black Country Museum. There was much excitement and chatter on the coach as this was the first trip out of school for a very long time!
On arrival we were ready to investigate the life of a Victorian child, with each class following the trail of Harry Webb or Lillian Hodgkiss - real families whose houses had been moved to the museum.
The highlight was a lesson in the school room where the mischievous Mrs Donelly had been caught throwing stones and needed to be suitably punished! The girls decided that the jobs for children were hard and back-breaking, especially after looking at the mine shaft! However the 'suck' shop was enticing until the ingredients were revealed!
It was a super day bringing History to life and much enjoyed by all!
