Bowled Over

Senior School

28 April 2023

Both our U13 and U15 cricketers took part in a series of indoor league matches before Easter, which saw them qualify for the County Finals at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The top two teams from each league qualified for the finals, where they would go on to play schools including KEHS, Kings High Warwick and Tudor Grange.

The U13's had a difficult group, but by winning two of their group matches they saw themselves in the 1st Semi-Final against KEHS. This was a close-fought match and some excellent bowling from Hafsah and Sanskriti, followed by an outstanding throw from Milly to result in a run out, made for a spectacle of a game. Unfortunately, EHS just missed out on a place in the final, but their performances showed that they will bounce back in the outdoor season!

The U15's also faced difficult opposition, playing against Kings High Warwick, Arthur Terry and Bordesley Green. Kings High Warwick were victorious, but a three-way tie for 2nd place meant the girls faced a play-off match to decide who would take home the silver medal. Again, this was another close match, going down to the final 2 overs. Anna made an excellent one-handed catch in the first innings to prevent Bordesley Green scoring any more runs. It then came down to Ruqayyah and Anna in the second innings, who held their nerve and managed to secure the win!

We've now had the Easter break to recover from the excitement of Indoor Finals and look ahead to the outdoor season. Cricket clubs will take place on Tuesdays after school.
