Talk adds up to a career in finance
19 January 2018
On Wednesday 17 January, we welcomed Mrs Lucy Williams, Head of Compliance at HSBC, to deliver a talk to the Senior School about a career in banking and finance as part of our series of careers talks. Having worked in a variety of different roles over the years, Mrs Williams was able to give an in-depth talk of how varied a career in banking can be.
Originally working in the London-based headquarters, Mrs Williams has relocated to Birmingham, following HSBC’s recent decision to locate their headquarters of its new retail bank - HSBC UK - in the city. During her talk Mrs Williams explained that working at HSBC has allowed her to connect with people from all around the world. As well as giving the girls an insight into the different roles her job can include, Mrs Williams also gave her advice on how they can begin their career in banking, through either internships or a university degree, whilst stressing the importance of maintaining a good reputation both in person and online, through the use of social media.
On behalf of the school I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Williams for taking the time to deliver an engaging talk on a career path which holds so many different opportunities; her advice was greatly appreciated by us all.
