Celebrating Year 12’s Extended Project Success
11 April 2025
This week, Year 12 students have showcased their dedication, creativity, and intellectual curiosity through their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) presentations. The EPQ provides students with the unique opportunity to explore their personal passions, construct their own program of study, and develop essential research and analytical skills. Created by top universities, the EPQ not only enriches students' academic experiences but also offers valuable UCAS points to support future applications.
This year’s cohort has once again demonstrated an impressive variety of research topics and project formats. Students who opted for a dissertation-based approach delved into thought-provoking subjects such as populism in politics, gender inequality in sports, and the ethical implications of AI within the UK justice system. These complex and contemporary issues sparked insightful discussions and highlighted the depth of independent study undertaken.
In addition to traditional research papers, many students chose to create artefacts as the outcome of their projects, bringing a dynamic and hands-on approach to their studies. From compelling documentaries and engaging podcasts to innovative fashion pieces, mobile apps, and even a board game designed to educate teenagers on basic economics, the diversity of projects was truly inspiring. A special mention must go to Sophia Y, who managed to secure an interview with the Queen of Jordan to inform her research into fashion as a political tool!
Despite the inevitable nerves that come with presenting to an audience, students spoke with confidence and passion, sharing their findings with peers and teachers alike. Their dedication and hard work were evident in every presentation, making for a truly fascinating and enjoyable series of events.
A huge congratulations to all Year 12 students who took part—your efforts and enthusiasm have been exceptional, and we look forward to seeing how these projects shape your
future academic and career paths!
