Dudley Canal Rocks
14 October 2022
As part of their Science topic on rocks Year 3 visited the Dudley Canal Trust at the end of last week.
They were lucky enough to enjoy a narrow boat ride along the canal known for its fossils. The girls particularly enjoyed going through the tunnels and seeing their teachers moving the boat by ‘legging’!
They furthered their knowledge of fossils by taking part in a hands on fossils and rocks workshop. The trilobites, also known as the Dudley bug, were especially interesting.
When asked what the girls had particularly enjoyed they gave some varied answers:
‘I enjoyed the canal ride and wearing the hard hat.’
‘I enjoyed reading the stories inside the bottles of the building of the tunnels.’
‘The tour of the centre was most enjoyable. The wet limestone tunnels were interesting and the waffle tunnel was like sailing through a pudding.’
‘Watching the teachers legging the boat was good fun.’
