EHS Becomes Royal Life Saving Society Training Centre

Preparatory

23 April 2021

Each year in the UK hundreds of people die from drowning – deaths that are almost always preventable and could have been avoided with the right skills and education. So we are especially proud that EHS has recently been made a Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Approved Training Centre.

As well as allowing us to run ‘in-house’ courses for our students and staff to raise awareness and teach these vital life-saving skills, it also means that we can run First Aid and Lifeguard Courses for external candidates. Not only that, but our brilliant on-site Trainer and Assessor, Michelle Hayward, delivers all RLSS and IQL regulated qualifications without the need to bring external companies in.

Our own after school lifesaving clubs have got off to a flying start and this week, our Year 6 Rookie Lifeguards completed and were awarded with their Bronze Stage 1 award.  The RLSS Rookie Lifeguard programme is part of Swim England’s Learn To Swim programme and gives children the skills they need to be confident in a pool or in the sea. Each of our Rookie Lifeguards received a t-shirt and a certificate – and as you can see from the photos, were quite rightly pretty pleased with themselves! The girls will now start working towards their Silver awards.
