Pupils celebrate success on GCSE results day

Senior School

23 August 2019

Following last week's A Level news, today Edgbaston High School had further cause for celebration at the publication of this year's GCSE results.

We are delighted with a pass rate of 95% and 55.1% at grades 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A). 18.1% were at grade 6 (B). The cohort of 65 girls took over 640 subjects overall, covering a range of 24 disciplines in a broad and demanding curriculum.

There were some stunning individual performances, with 15.3% girls obtaining all grades at 7, 8 or 9 and one pupil gaining 10 subjects at grade 9.

We are also pleased to report fantastic results with the Year 9 Higher Project, with 88% of the grades at A*/A.

Headmistress Dr Ruth Weeks said: “I am hugely proud of our Year 11 girls. We are delighted to have maintained our overall pass rates. Not only have the girls worked hard to achieve these results, they have also approached their learning with determination and maturity. I also thank our dedicated staff for their excellent teaching, and their care and commitment in supporting the girls.”

We look forward to welcoming our students back to EHS in the Autumn Term in the Sixth Form, and sharing in their continued success in the years to come.
