EHS Girls Go Gold
20 September 2019
On Thursday this week, GCSE PE students in Years 10 and 11 set off for an exciting and inspirational day of sport at the Girls Schools Association's (GSA) Girls Go Gold Conference. Year 11 pupil Millie takes up the story:
"We were excited to visit the University of Bath and were looking forward to taking part in a netball game with some super league players, attending two lectures and having a tour of the amazing campus.
"The day started off with a talk from Pamela Cookey, who was the England Captain for Netball. After the talk we had a training session with a super league player from Bath University. Then we had a short lunch break before having a lecture on nutrition that we all found very useful and informative.
"Next, we had a short tour of the campus by a few of the second year students who showed us the accommodation and a little section of the sport facilities. Straight after this we went to one of the sports labs where we watched two extremely interesting experiments being conducted: one on the running machine and one on the bike.
"Finally the day finished with a closing talk from a very inspiring woman who took a team and travelled across Antarctica, the first all-female team to do so."
