Poetry with Year 7

Mrs Park’s Year 7 English group have been looking at the poem ‘Macavity: The Mystery Cat’ by T.S. Eliot. Mrs Park chose the poem as many of her group are slightly cat-obsessed!
The poem is from Eliot’s collection called ‘Old Possum’s Book of Cats’. Many of you perhaps are more familiar with what it inspired, the musical ‘Cats’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Girls studied the poem and answered questions but there was also an option to draw a picture of Macavity. Two girls did some particularly impressive work. Sophia Yaqoob based
her illustration on both the poem and musical, and Caroline Mackie not only drew Macavity but also Griddlebone, another of the cats mentioned in the poem.
