German Students Play Detective
18 February 2022
After a very early start, we arrived on time for our German adventure at the Goethe-Institut in South Kensington.
We were greeted by the staff who only spoke in German to the girls and we were led upstairs to solve a crime - hackers had stolen some data and it was up to the girls to work out what had happened. They had to unravel a series of clues, all in German, to solve the crime. Everyone worked really hard at this task but congratulations must go to the winning team of Cassy Molokwu, Monet Egawa, Afsana Islam, Maddy Carey and Keera Kalirai!
We had time to walk down to the Victoria and Albert Museum for a browse before heading to Stein’s Berlin German restaurant for lunch. The girls were treated to some German specialities such as Schnitzel, Käsespätzle and of course some different types of sausages.
After lunch we headed back to the Goethe-Institut to watch the film Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland (Welcome to Germany). This beautiful film follows the life story of three generations of a Turkish immigrant or ‘Gastarbeiter’ family and how they try to integrate German and Turkish culture.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and Mrs Cardellino would like to thank the girls for their enthusiasm and exemplary behaviour, as well as Mrs Tack-Benton and Miss Bennet for
their help.
