Girls complete DofE Gold Expedition
05 July 2019
At the end of last month, girls embarked on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition.
This was the culmination of many expeditions over the years, both practice and real, as the girls progressed through the various stages of the qualification. The Gold expedition consisted of the girls camping for four days and nights, walking in total between 80 - 96km while carrying a 60 litre rucksack containing everything they would need for the next few days.
After battling the great outdoors, Cadair Idris and the 1,001 midges, the girls truly deserved the hot showers waiting for them at home.
Through achieving their Bronze, Silver and finally the Gold DofE Award, girls have the unique opportunity to gain valuable life experience whilst developing essential work-ready skills and attributes such as resilience, confidence and determination. The award is much valued by employers and universities and is sure to stand the girls in good stead.
Well done, everyone!
