Amy wins Silver at Loulé Cup

Senior School

13 October 2017

Year 10 pupil Amy recently competed in the Loulé Cup in Portugal as a member of the British Gymnastics Trampolining, DMT and Tumbling squad. This international event is a highlight of the British Gymnastics calendar and attracts competitors from many other countries including Portugal, Greece, Canada, Kazakhstan and France.

The first day of the event was the preliminary round, where Amy qualified in 2nd place, behind her teammate by only a very narrow margin.

In the finals on the second day there was a zero score start and competitors had to complete their two passes again. Amy completed her tumbling passes with confidence and precision, securing the 2nd highest female score of the competition across all age groups. She won the Silver medal in her junior age group, losing out to her fellow team mate. The three British girls also won team Gold in the tumbling by achieving the three highest female scores over the competition.

This competition brings Amy’s very successful season to a close. Fingers crossed for more success next year!
