Masterclass inspiration for Year 5

Preparatory

02 February 2018

Over the course of the last fortnight, our Year 5 pupils have enjoyed a series of student-led Masterclasses held in the Senior School.

The masterclasses were ably led by our Year 12 Scholars who developed the sessions themselves and had spent a good part of the Autumn Term formulating their ideas, liaising with staff and practising their delivery of the classes.

The programme of masterclasses for Year 5 is designed to inspire and challenge the girls, as well as giving them an insight into the exciting opportunities available to girls as they look toward moving up to Senior School. Pupils participated in two 30 minute masterclasses each, experiencing one Science masterclass, either Biology, Chemistry or Physics, and then having the opportunity to be creative in Music and Creative Writing sessions. They were treated to a wide range of activities such as making lava lamps, writing haikus and even a dry ice demonstration.

We were delighted to hear that the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Pupils Aoukh and Olivia commented: "We really enjoyed the masterclasses - especially making lava lamps in Chemistry." We look forward to repeating the classes for the new Year 5 next year.
