Announcing the new Leadership Team
29 March 2019
Following the announcement of the Head Girl elect in last week’s edition of Friday Headlines, we are delighted to announce the new Deputy Head Girls for the academic year 2019-20.
Lydia Diwaker has been a pupil at EHS since Year 2. She is studying Psychology, P.E. and the Extended Project Qualification with a view to embarking on a career as a paramedic.
Zaineb Al-Ani joined EHS in the Prep department at Year 5 having moved here from New Zealand with her family and follows in the footsteps of her elder sister Mariam who is a current Deputy Head Girl. She is studying A Levels in Art, Biology, Chemistry and Maths and has her heart set on pursuing a career in architecture.
The rigorous selection process to appoint the leadership team begins with written applications and culminates in a round of final speeches to staff and pupils at which the girls set out their aims. In her speech, Anya underlined the importance of inclusivity and encouraging all, even the quietest, most introverted girls to join in with school life. Lydia, an active member of the EHS community, who has already done much for the school, spoke passionately about her hope to use a role on the leadership team to promote the ‘random acts of kindness’ initiative to the benefit of all pupils. Zaineb highlighted the importance of the student voice and hoped to facilitate more ways for pupils to contribute to school life.
Together with Head Girl Anya, Lydia and Zaineb complete the new Leadership Team line up. They take up their positions in the summer term once Year 13 have departed on study leave.
Our warmest congratulations go to the girls! We are sure they will make a formidable team and look forward to their valuable and positive contributions to the school over the
coming year.
