Taking on the Big Physics Quiz

On Tuesday, four teams of Year 9 girls travelled to the Great Hall at the University of Birmingham to compete in the Physics Big Quiz.
This year was the biggest group of girls that we have entered so far, and they showed great enthusiasm in the lead up. Over the weekend, they revised their Physics knowledge and read up on the specialist Nuclear Physics topic in order to prepare for the challenge.
The quiz covered a vast amount of Physics, from Waves to Mechanics as well as rounds such as “Who Am I?” featuring a short round where contestants were required to recognise 10 famous physicists.
We were delighted that one of the teams achieved a spot prize for coming up with the closest estimate of the speed of sound in air.
Well done to all of the girls involved!
