As we approach the half term break, it is an opportunity for us all to reflect. For our girls, families and staff, the Autumn term is always one of change, opportunities, challenge and structure. Stark contrast to the long, sunny, unstructured family days, we were blessed with, during the Summer holidays. As the days draw in and the leaves begin to fall from the trees, I have asked staff to reflect on every aspect of our provision; to think about their strengths, areas for focus and opportunities.

I am blessed with the most wonderful pupils, whose curiosity and eagerness to learn is evident in every aspect of school life. So, as I reflect on the past six weeks, I do so by putting the children first; reflecting on how well we support and guide these incredible girls to reach their potential, whilst upholding and embedding the key EHS values: courage, creativity, aspiration, perseverance, responsibility, excellence and inclusivity.

This month, we have marked Black History Month. It has been an opportunity for us to share the stories of some incredible black British women and, I hope, to inspire our girls. Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock is a remarkable Space Scientist who attended Imperial College London, where she obtained her degree in Physics and then her PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Since then, she has been instrumental with her work on the James Webb Space Telescope, received an MBE for her services to Science and Science education and been president of the British Science Association. In assembly, this week, I shared Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock's story. By doing so, I was able to share a clear, relevant, example of an incredible, female role model who had clearly demonstrated aspiration; she had aimed for the stars and got there!

So, as I reflect on these past six weeks, I find myself looking at ways to further embed and develop opportunities for our girls. To provide relevant, inspirational, female role models for our girls so that they are fully prepared for life in modern Britain. To expand and develop our STEM education and be well placed to demonstrate our academic rigour. To help our girls reach for the stars...and to shout about it when they get there!

Have a wonderful half term break.
