This week has been Anti-Bullying week which many schools across the country will have been marking as it is such an important topic. We have also focused on this theme during our assemblies with positive advice for the girls, encouraging them to ‘Make a Noise’ which is this year’s slogan. It has been a fitting end to this anti-bullying week to mark Friendship Friday.
We were delighted by the feedback from visitors to our Prep School in Action Day on Wednesday on the confidence and extensive knowledge shown by our Year 6 guides during the tours of the Prep School. They really are the best Ambassadors for the school and we look forward to giving more girls the same opportunity during future events.
Thursday brought a busy day with two year groups out of school. Year 1 visited Tamworth Castle to extend their history knowledge on this term’s topic whist Year 4 had the chance to visit the FIG World Trampoline Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham. All of the girls returned inspired, having thoroughly enjoyed these learning opportunities.
We have ended the week supporting the BBC Children in Need charity by wearing lots of spots and themed outfits. It is good to have fun whilst helping other people in many ways. We shared a number of the special projects which are funded by this charity during our Celebration Assembly on Friday.
We presented our Year 1 and 2 Well Done Certificates for a range of skills and there were individual awards for Zoe for her dance success, for Shahnoor for having her story published in a book and for Amaani for having come first in the MSF Olympics with the 304th Birmingham Scouts which she belongs to.
We also presented a number of awards for Independent Learning activities including certificates for Ruby Roddah, Genevieve Hines, Zeenia Khan, Faatema Fiaz and Tilly Cooke for their World Without Numbers entries. Madame Hennous had set a Famous Linguist competition on Foreign Languages Day. Congratulations to the winners: Aminah in Year 1, Serina in Year 2, Eliza in Year 3, Amaani in Year 4, Clara L in Year 5 and Katerina in Year 6. These girls were presented with their prizes by our Year 6 Language Ambassadors.
Miss Brown and the Art Monitors also announced the Year 6 Art Awards for their entries in the recent competition with commended success for Katerina, Emily, Grace, Lily and Amaya. In third place was Sofia, in second was Zoe and in first place Catie. Congratulations to all of our young artists.
Next week we have another busy week planned with a history trip for Year 4 on Monday and a gala for our Swim Squad on Thursday against Holy Trinity. We also look forward to welcoming Year 1 parents to our Open House mornings on Tuesday and Wednesday.
