18 September 2020

We have all enjoyed the late summer weather this week and the children have skipped happily into school ready for each day of their second full week at school.
We have continued our programme of assemblies each day with opportunities to reflect and to focus on the range of feelings we experience when faced with new situations and changes.  The opportunity to Zoom into the classrooms each day and to hear the children say ‘Good morning’ brings a sense of normality to our school community and is a very positive way to start each day.
We also enjoyed preparing for our first parent event of the term with the virtual Information Evening presentations.  These cannot replace meeting everyone in person but we hope have helped parents to feel connected to the new classes.

In Westbourne, our Pre-Prep, the children are now well-settled into their new routines.  In Reception this week the girls have been writing about the Little Red Hen after reading the story.  They have also been learning how bread is made and have enjoyed making dough, ready for the oven. Master bakers in the making perhaps?
Our week finished with our Celebration Assembly.  This week we congratulated Davica, in Year 2 who earned a Head Teacher’s Certificate for her independent work following the Roald Dahl Challenge set last week.  We also announced the Well Done Awards to girls in Years 1 and 2 for a range of endeavours.  A definite highlight was congratulating the 53 girls for submitting their Scrapbook Challenge entries.  It has been a pleasure reading about everyone’s summer exploits and all girls have received a special badge for their efforts.  Well done girls.  I cannot wait to hear about the adventurous challenges you undertake during this year!
