Girls from across the Prep School have enjoyed learning and playing outdoors in the recent lovely weather. At the end of last week, Kindergarten visited the Botanical Gardens where they chose some plants. They returned to school and planted them, making sure they used lots of compost and water to help them to grow. They extended this interest further to look at how the artist Giuseppe Archimboldo used things that grow in his art. They were inspired to create their own fruity faces which they then enjoyed eating.

In Reception, food featured in their learning too and, just like on the current television series, young chefs cooked up a storm in the mud kitchen located in our outdoor classroom. They enjoyed working together to create new recipes using natural ingredients. They did not eat their dishes on this occasion!

Girls in Prep are always keen to continue working to protect our planet. They are very proud of having gained the Green Flag award last year and our newly elected Eco Reps are keen to get started on projects for the year ahead.

The sunny weather also added to the most enjoyable day for Year 3 as they visited Lunt Roman Fort on Wednesday.

During the week we have recognised the achievements of a number of the girls. There have been congratulations for two swimmers: Shayanna who achieved two certificates and Grace who gained a gold and two silver medals with her swim club for her breaststroke at a weekend gala. Aurelia was successful in a gym competition and Sakina played in goal for her football team won a trophy. Darcey experienced great success too in her first Irish Dance competition. There were Scrapbook Challenge certificates for girls in Year 5 as Esme was presented her Bronze award and Anna, her Gold certificate.  Well done to all of these girls for their endeavours.

We enjoyed meeting Year 6 parents this week and are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our Open Day on Saturday. We are also hoping girls will enjoy taking part in clubs and activities which begin next week and that many parents will join us on Friday morning from 8.15am for our fundraising Macmillan Coffee morning.
