We have begun and ended this week with Celebration Assemblies as we have had much to be proud of. At the start of the week we congratulated Miss McKee on her success in completing the London Marathon, achieving a personal best time too. We also announced the winners of our British Science Week Poster Competition. These were the results of our internal competition as we are awaiting the national results.

At the end of the week, we celebrated the results from the recent LAMDA examinations. We had 128 entrants with everyone achieving either a merit or distinction award.  We are very proud of all of the girls on their success.

Individual congratulations were given to Esme who worked with the charity Little Princess Trust.  She not only donated her hair to help sick children but she also raised £710 towards research. Well done Esme. We also awarded certificates to Rehmah and Layla who successfully completed their first fast and to Davica for her Level 7 Gymanstics award and to Eleri for a Level 6 Swim award.

Our badges for our Form and Vice Form Captains and Charity Reps for this term were also presented.  We hope the girls enjoy holding the posts of responsibilities.

During the week we have also marked a number of days being celebrated by people all over the world.  We marked World Earth Day on Monday and considered how we can help to protect the planet. We looked at the achievements of Afroz Shah who has made a huge difference to the beaches and rivers in the Mumbai area of India. His individual campaign was joined by thousands of volunteers and the impact on the environment was huge.  Our bottle top collages are evidence that our girls consider the dangers of plastic in our environment throughout the year and not just on one day.

We marked World Penguin Day too and considered the benefits to everyone of Dance as Friday was the International Day of Dance.

Although the weather has been changeable the girls have enjoyed taking part in outdoor activities.  Gardening Club is back in full swing and the Year 5 members enjoyed planting potatoes at the allotment this week helped by one of the Duke of Edinburgh volunteers from Sixth Form. Tennis lessons have also taken place.

We wish the girls well for our first two residential trips of the term as they set off next week and will report further on their return.
