Old Girl Gives Advice and Encouragement
14 October 2022
Students were delighted to attend the latest Careers Talk in school where we welcomed Old Girl Georgia Khanna back to EHS. She left EHS in 2015 at the end of Year 13 after joining in 1998 when she was just two years old.
Since then she has had an incredible journey, but is still very thankful for all of her experiences of EHS. “When I drive past and look at the building, I get a warm fuzzy feeling. I loved my days here”, she said, coming back to school for a careers talk on Thursday.
Georgia talked to girls from Year 9-13 and told us how she studied politics and international relations at London School of Economics. She used the summer break at university to intern for an MP, and upon completing her degree the MP asked her to come and work for her in her constituency of Wolverhampton. It was through the MP that Georgia met David Milliband, and her next career step was to move to New York to work for David in an international charity. This experience inspired Georgia to then go back to LSE and complete a masters in Human Rights. Most recently Georgia has been successful in gaining a much-sought after place in the Civil Service fast stream where she currently works in the Ministry of Defence.
Not only did Georgia light up the room with her enthusiasm, she also reminded girls that being both resilient and ope- minded are important skills that we can all start working on in school.
We are grateful to Georgia for giving of her time so generously.
