Senior School | Sixth Form

05 July 2019

Forced to postpone sports day last week, all of Senior School were excited for this annual house event which took place on Thursday.

With the field set up for both track and field events, and the sun out, the PE department were ready to host this year’s event. Students in Years 9 and 10 competed in their field events which consisted of long jump, discus, javelin and shot put.

Under pressure, the girls performed really well and were excited for their track events. After break time, the PE department were joined by Senior School Teaching staff and pupils for the track events. The track programme started with the hurdles, followed by the 800m and the sprint events (100m and 200m). These events saw pupils in each year group compete against each other for house points. The final track event was the 4 x 100m relay where each house team was made up of a pupil from Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Girls competed incredibly well in the morning in very sunny conditions.

Whilst the track events took place, the tug of war and mini Olympics were also on offer with girls competing for even more house points.

The final event of the morning was the Staff vs Sixth Form tug of war. The staff were victorious, winning 3 nil. In the afternoon Years 7 and 8 competed in their field events.

Overall, sports day was a huge success!
