Prep School's celebration of literature

15 March 2019

Along with many other schools across the UK, the Prep School took part in celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7 March.

The day began with welcoming an amazing array of book characters in to school.  In Westbourne, each class had taken a Julia Donaldson book for their theme and there were lots of characters from Room on the Broom, The Gruffalo, Tabby McTat, Scarecrow’s Wedding and Zog in attendance. Zog himself even made an appearance!

In Prep, 6H organised a special book-themed assembly to start the day. They asked everyone which book they might read to different people which helped us to think about different genres of stories.  They also included books about women who inspire us to mark International Women’s Day on Friday.

In addition to dressing up the girls were asked to consider bringing in a book they had loved reading and had finished with to donate to charity.  We were delighted by the response and thank the girls for their generosity.

Years 4 – 6 joined Senior School in their World Book Day Assembly and were able to vote on their favourite costumes which they enjoyed.
This special celebration has made us all keen to look for new books to enjoy.
